We are looking for a mid-level DevOps Software Engineer to work on the Army Global Unified Network (AGUN) – Increment 1 (INC1) program. The Global Enterprise Network Modernization – OCONUS (GENM-O) is a critical mission provider responsible for keeping the Army connected through global network modernization projects. A successful candidate should have proven ability to lead, problem solve, and deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced environment. On this program, you will have the opportunity to build strong systems and software utilizing cloud capabilities to support a complex program. Based in DevOps framework, you will participate in and/or direct major deliverables throughout all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, unit testing, and operations network services.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement the processes and tools to deliver an automated, CI/CD pipeline based DevSecOps system capable of supporting VM and container applications for AGUN SDN Capabilities and Network Management.
- Work from established DevSecOps requirements to support complex software and hardware systems' rapid development, security, testing, validation, and fielding.
- Develop & maintain sound version control best practices-based CM systems (GIT), including branching and merging strategies.
- Develop, prototype, and deploy solutions within Commercial Cloud Solutions leveraging Infrastructure platform services
- Identify processes and capabilities that can be streamlined and automated.
- Assist with support and operations where necessary.
- Create and Implement design and maintenance web service infrastructure and deployments.
- Solve higher level and larger scope technical problems
- Coordinate closely with team members, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation to customer use cases
- Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
- Document and perform systems software development, including security artifacts, testing artifacts, and deployment of build artifacts across different environments leveraging GitOps constructs
- Communicate key project data to team members and build team cohesion and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of related experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience working within the Agile framework.
- Active Secret clearance preferred
- 8570 IAT II and Operating System certification
- Ability to automate release deployments across development, test, staging, Quality Assurance and production stacks using a combination of scripting languages and other automation toolkits.
- Proficient with DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering methodologies.
- Ability to have a holistic view of service development and deployment architecture.
- Understanding of SLA requirements and role of high availability architectures, performance optimization, and monitoring techniques.
- Set up and configure a continuous integration environment by leveraging Configuration Management, containerization, serverless technologies, and Kubernetes.
- Experience working cross functionally across multiple teams.
- Prior experience working within Army’s IT infrastructure.
- Direct experience with API integrations between applications.
- Experience managing/monitoring AWS cloud and virtualized servers for optimal performance while working in a Platform as a Service (PaaS) environment.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using Kibana for reporting.
- Knowledge of security practices, networking protocols, firewalls, and zero trust Security.
- Solid understanding of Network Management and Monitoring.
